Rokeby GP have a full range of travel vaccinations and the team of dedicated travel doctors can educate and vaccinate you ahead of any overseas journey.

As our adventurous team know first-hand, overseas travel can expose you to a multitude of pathogens. Without preventative practices, such as a Flu shot or travel vaccinations, treatment for illness can incur significant repercussions to your overall health – or your wallet if you don’t have adequate travel insurance for medical services.

The best method of preventing external factors from affecting your ability to enjoy your holiday is receiving the necessary travel immunization recommended for your chosen destination(s) from the highly knowledgeable and friendly Rokeby GP travel immunization team.

It’s recommended to book travel vaccinations two months in advance – but it’s always better late than never. Arrange a travel consultation today and get the best advice or learn what precautions you should be taking for your short vacation or long-term trip.

Make Rokeby GP your first destination for travel vaccinations in Perth.

What’s next?

First things first. Book your appointment 2 months in advance of your departure – if you can help it – so that our Rokeby GP travel experts can assist you as best they can. When chatting to our friendly staff, you may need to answer a few questions so we can ensure your appointment is the right length of time and the basic requirements required to prepare for your travel plans.

We recommend wearing appropriate clothing to your appointment, in case you receive arm injections.

There will be two stages to your appointment; a consultation in the doctor’s office, followed by the travel vaccinations you may require. Please allow an hour for this appointment.

After your vaccination, you are required to stay for a 15-minute observation period. It’s unlikely you will experience adverse effects from the vaccination(s) however in the event you do, please contact Rokeby GP or your nearest health professional immediately.

Travel Vaccinations

The most common travel vaccines required are influenza, hepatitis A, hepatitis B and typhoid. Recommended vaccines will vary widely depending on your destination, length of stay, standard of accommodation, exposure to animals, and personal preference.

A course of hepatitis A and B vaccination gives most people lifelong protection and hence is very valuable for repeat travel. Typhoid vaccine lasts three years. Influenza vaccine is recommended annually and begins to wane after ¾ months, an important consideration as flu is very easy to catch in the enclosed space of an airplane and is transmitted all year in tropical countries.

It’s also crucial to ensure your childhood vaccinations are up to date. If in doubt we can do a blood test to check your immunity.

Yellow Fever Vaccination Provider

Rokeby GP is accredited by the Government of Western Australian Department of Health as Yellow Fever Vaccination provider. This accreditation allows us to administer World Health Organisation (WHO) approved vaccines and issue associated documentation to those travelling to an area in which Yellow Fever is active.
