The early detection of skin cancers is paramount when one resides in a country as sun-blessed as ours. This early detection is vital in preventing further risk and reducing the chances of catastrophic ill-health.

Skin checkOur skin doctors are trained and certified through the Skin Cancer College of Australia and New Zealand (ACCANZ), and are committed to achieving early, accurate detection. Early detection will result in smaller excisions and scarring, a higher chance of remission and curability, and the prevention of death,

Our dedicated Mole Clinic uses only the latest technologies. Our physicians are trained in the use of the highly effective (and technical) DermEngine Software. This software uses a dermatoscope: a powerful magnifier and non-reflective light source that accurately photographs and aids identification of suspicious and problematic skin lesions.

We recommend all patients received regular skin checks from the age of 18 years.

What to expect

Before your appointment, please remove any make-up, nail polish, or hair product, as this will interfere with the detection process. We also recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing, as you will be asked to remove them prior to the examination.

For a thorough and accurate analysis, our doctors are required to perform a full body examination. You will not need to remove your underwear unless you request the physician to examine your private areas; the doctor will only examine private areas with your expressed permission

It is good policy to inform the physician about any lesions you are concerned about prior to the commencement of the examination process.

Risk Factors for Skin Cancer

  • Pale skin.
  • Age
  • History of severe sunburn.
  • Past history of skin cancer.
  • Family history of melanoma.
  • Numerous moles on your body.
  • Multiple atypical moles (strange looking moles) on your body.

If you have one or more of these risk factors, we recommend regular skin checks. However, it is important to remember that anyone is susceptible to skin cancer – no matter your pre-existing or hereditary condition.

DermEngine Software

The DermEngine Software is paired with a dermatoscope attached to an iphone for high quality imaging.

Utilising a highly magnified lens and non-reflective light source, the camera allows the doctor to see below the surface of a mole to detect suspicious features that would otherwise be undetectable.

As DermEngine generates digital files, skin lesions (once on record within the patient management system) can be monitored via periodic check-ups. Through this process we can accurately detect any subtle or adverse changes against previous examinations.

The Dermatoscope provides greater diagnostic accuracy, fewer unnecessary operations, and, ultimately, comfort and peace of mind for all patients.
