A vasectomy is a safe, simple, and highly effective method of permanent contraception for men. At Rokeby GP, we offer a minimally invasive, no-scalpel vasectomy service led by Dr Ayrton Goddard. This procedure is more than 99% effective and is considered permanent — so it’s important to be completely sure that you no longer wish to have children before proceeding.

Who Will Perform the Procedure?

All vasectomies at Rokeby GP are performed by Dr Ayrton Goddard, an experienced GP with a focus on men’s health and minor surgical procedures.

How Many Appointments Will I Need?

You’ll need two appointments:

1. Initial Consultation – 30 minutes

  • This pre-procedure consultation is essential. Dr Goddard will:

    • Review your medical history, including any medications, allergies, and previous surgeries

    • Conduct a brief physical examination to ensure the procedure is suitable for your anatomy

    • Discuss the risks, benefits, and your long-term contraceptive goals

2. Procedure Appointment – 1 hour (Friday afternoons only)
If you’re a suitable candidate and decide to proceed, your vasectomy will be booked for a Friday afternoon.

Where Is the Procedure Performed?

Your vasectomy will be carried out in the private and comfortable procedure room at Rokeby GP. There is no need to attend a hospital or external clinic.

What to Expect During the Procedure

We use a minimally invasive, no-scalpel technique, making the process simpler and reducing recovery time. Here’s what to expect:

  • Local anaesthetic used to ensure the procedure is painless

  • Mild sedation available (optional) for added comfort

  • Quick procedure – typically completed in 30 to 45 minutes

  • No stitches required and minimal downtime
